A friend of a friend is a big city police officer, and I have the occasion to run into him socially a few times a year. He's a skinny guy, slow to anger and always throwing high fives. Though I suspect that he hates to see me. Every time we run into each other it's just after some unfavorable media coverage of police wrongdoing, and without fail I ask him about whatever recent incident is in the news. Then he's forced to explain what probably happened, and the entire time he's compelled to say he's not that kind of cop. I should cut him a break, I can't imagine what it'd be like if was held accountable for the actions of every single person I worked with.

Big City Cop
