I don't know what it is about puffy down vests that make guys look like jerks. I should mention I own two of these vests. There was a guy wearing one in a video I was watching at work the other day, and all I could think was, "Man, this guy looks like a tool." His puffy vest in the bright color, his Ray-Bans, beard stubble, and flannel shirt. A few moments later, it dawned on me that I have the same jacket the guy's wearing. I also have a matching pair of Ray-Bans, and I haven't shaved in several days. Any of my friends will tell you that I wear far too much flannel. Basically, this guy and I must give off the same vibe based on our looks, and my first impression of him was that he looked like a total idiot. I should start putting mirrors all over by my desk and in my home. It will help me get over my own prejudices about people who look and dress just like myself.
