Elevator Troubles at Work

A couple more people got stuck in the elevator at work today. They had an elevator repair person there about ten minutes after it happened and they pulled out whoever was stuck, though I learned something valuable about the process. The elevator repairman will not tear down walls to get you out, while the fire department will. So if you're ever stuck, call the fire department. Don't wait for the building owners, they'll never call them. And today I finally got to ask an elevator repair person whether or not the 'close door' buttons on elevators do anything. He pondered it for a few moments (during which time I'm sure the people who were stuck would have liked to kill me) and said he didn't know. If that response doesn't reek of conspiracy, I don't know what does.
