Appetite for Risk

I used to be attracted to sports because of a perceived inherent danger. I was obsessed with scuba diving, and then I learned about it and discovered that it's very safe. The same with skydiving. It was more of a youthful fascination with risk than anything else. Not too many of my friends scuba dive, but those who do I never worry about. Lately, a couple of my friends have begun a new and interesting hobby, home distilling, which is something that I believe would have satisfied my youth obsession with danger. Too many things can go wrong when you're dealing with open flames and evaporated alcohol. And considering my distilling friends' appetite for risk, I worry much more about their safety than I do my skydiving friends.
