Often when I'm sick, as long as it's not a stomach bug, I'll drink one pint of Guinness each day. One of my disreputable co-workers at the bike shop told me about a decade ago that some hospitals in Ireland serve patients a pint each day, or maybe he said that's what they did during the war. In any case, I've taken his account of things at face value and I enjoy my pint each day. Sure, it would be easy for me to research the veracity of this Guinness-a-day claim, but I don't bother. If I did look into it and found it to be false, I'd just have to go in and add it to the history section of Guinness' Wikipedia page.

Hospital Beer
