Right now, it's colder in some parts of Canada than it is on (the cold side of) Mars. Even in the civilized parts of Canada it's been so cold that people's pipes are freezing and they're going without water. It could last weeks. I read a while ago about a guy who's advocating that we send some people on a one-way mission to colonize Mars, and after hearing about the wintertime conditions in Canada, I can't think of anyone more qualified. Canada is already one of the largest countries in the world, and here they are ideally suited to add another planet to their reach. All these years I've wondered why anyone would endure those extreme temperatures and not choose to move south, and now I know that it's because they've been preparing to takeover Mars. Well played, Canada.
