The Mailman Helper
My friend received mail that was meant for the woman who was the previous tenant of his apartment. It was bills, junk mail, etc, so he scrawled "Return to Sender" on it and stuffed it back in the mailbox. Problem solved. But then a few birthday cards arrived with things like "Grandma" written in the return address, so he went online and searched for the previous tenant. He found her on Facebook, looked through her photos and saw she lived just a couple blocks away, and he thought he'd do her a favor. He sent her a message that went something like this: "Hi, I live in your old apartment and received a card from your grandmother. Based on your Facebook photos it looks like you still live nearby. I'd be happy to drop it off." Later that week we met for a drink and he told me about the incident and said, "I still haven't heard from her." To which I of course replied, "Yeah, because that's the creepiest thing I've ever heard of in my life. She probably deleted Facebook and moved out of the country." He never did hear from her, or get anymore of her email, so in a way the message he sent worked.
