I held the door open for a woman pushing a stroller out of my apartment building the other day, and right when the stroller was in front of me a sharp, savage bark came out of it. I thought the lady was pushing her kid around, but it turned out to be a tiny dog with a big bark. It caught me off guard, and I jumped about a foot. I felt like an idiot for jumping at a tiny dog, and I think the lady was sympathetic. I could tell because she leaned into the stroller and yelled "Shut up!" really loudly at the dog. That actually made me jump, too. It was a little unsettling for me to see some lady screaming into a baby carriage, even though I knew she had a dog in there. The people on the sidewalk who saw it probably called child services.
