Old Shoes
Throwing out old shoes is tough. You've been through so much together. And you can always justify keeping them around, just in case. I keep mine around in case I need to re-blacktop the driveway or go river rafting. That I live in an apartment building with no driveway and also own a pair of Chacos for river rafting doesn't figure into the decision. You never know when 'just in case' will pop up. If there's even a chance that those shoes can go out in a blaze of glory instead of getting unceremoniously thrown out with yesterday's coffee grounds and eggshells, I have to hang onto them. Maybe I'll buy some fire-retardant socks and run down the street with my shoes on fire when it's time to get rid of them.
