Special Forces, Canada
I was sitting between two friends at an otherwise empty bar when we were joined by a young man who said he was waiting on a girl for their blind date. The young man talked about the military and hit it off with the friend to my right, and they fell into conversation. Meanwhile I caught up with the friend to my left. The young visitor was military from Canada and went on at some length about his special forces experience. Eventually his date arrived, but she only had eyes for my friend. In spite of the attention that my own conversation demanded, I could tell that things were going downhill between the military guy, his blind date, and my friend. He kept trying to barge into my conversation so that he could extract himself from his increasingly sticky situation, but we wouldn't let him in. There's no better way to find out what you're made of than breaking up a Canadian special force's blind date. I hear it's a form of gang initiation in Ottawa.
