Coloring Grades
I was riding my bike through a wide open parking lot that had a bike lane painted in it, and I stopped in the middle of it to dig in my backpack for some sunglasses. A woman rolling up behind me started yelling about 20 feet away, "Get out of the bike lane! Don't block the bike lane!" As we were in the middle of the parking lot, I thought she could pretty easily go around, but I guess I could have just as easily pulled out of the bike lane to attend to my personal business before stopping. The woman yelling at me reminded me of my friend who used to sit at red traffic lights at dead intersections in the middle of the night, waiting for them to turn green like some kind of animal waiting for a bell to be rung. It's okay to color outside the lines sometimes.
