I've met people who are more prepared for zombie uprisings than local elections. It's probably not a good sign for our country, but if we're being honest, I think it's okay to admit that zombie uprising scenarios are much more imaginative and fun than local politics. Of course, zombies probably affect your life quite a bit less. For all the media coverage of national elections, it's the local things that affect our lives most in the day-to-day, and the things that are easy for us to change though local action. I'm not really a resolution kind of person, but this year I'm going to challenge myself to become someone regarded as an annoying person by phone-answering assistants of my local politicians. "We want our bike lanes! No zombies! Tell state senator so-and-so to call me back."

Local Involvement
