There is a tremendous pile of paper on my desk. I have two filing cabinets as well. One holds my gym bag and a bottle of tequila. The other is packed with files left by the person who sat at my desk before me. I've always thought that a messy desk is a sign of a tidy mind. Or at least I tell myself that since I never feel like cleaning my desk. Plus the messy desk makes you look very, very busy. One downside I've found is that whenever a get well or birthday card would get passed around my office, there used to be an email a day later asking if anyone knew where the card ended up. Now people know to just walk to my desk and sift through piles of papers until they can find it.
