It's tax season, and I'd always thought that taxes were the one thing we all have in common. Then I found out from a couple friends that they hadn't filed taxes in several years. It really works out to the government's advantage since both of these people would have received refunds. But I found their carefree attitude towards taxes more shocking than their decision to walk away from money they were owed. I asked one of them what kind of correspondence she'd received from the government over her years of failing to file taxes and she said, "I don't know. I lost my mail key a few years ago." That's how I learned tax time is really just a frame of mind, and we don't all share it.

Tax Time
