If you ever get a chance to join an insight group: take it. These are the groups business setup to test out their products. They'll ask for feedback on their products in a room with a huge one-way glass, and on the other side of the glass a bunch of marketers sit and analyze your every statement while munching pastries and drinking coffee. It can be intimidating to walk into a room with who-know-what on the other side of the glass, but I can tell you from firsthand experience that people actually listen to everything you say with rapt attention, and then they make real business decisions based on what you (and a bunch of other people) say. Insight groups might be the last place in America where one person who has a lot of opinions and talks a lot can affect real change.
