I haven't spent much time in Seattle in the winter. I made the mistake of assuming that people who lived their made too big of a deal over how dreary it is for months on end where it rains every day and the fog never lifts. Then I went out to visit some friends in the middle of November. I landed on a steely gray day, a dense fog rendering even street signs useless. I made to to my friend's office and he showed me around, then he poked his head out the window and said to me, "Hey! We even got some sunshine for your visit!" And he meant it. That's when I knew this would be the most depressing week of my life.
