The First Rising Waves

When the resort gets blanketed in powder and I'm planning on skiing the next day, I find that an unfamiliar anxiety creeps up my spine. I worry that I won't be line early enough, something will go wrong, and I won't find a blanket of untracked snow that delivers a shot of whatever it is my brain releases that lets me know everything is okay in the world. I suppose that on some level this is an addiction. And, let's be honest, a powder addiction is not the cheapest habit to find yourself in thrall to, but at least there's no social stigma attached to it.
